NMSU offers students and staff the choice between a physical and mobile ID. The physical ID is $25 and the mobile ID is free, and gets added to your phone’s wallet. Both options are valid and accepted the same way across campus.

No, individuals can only have one form of ID active at a time.

There are a few rules to keeping your card in working order:

  • Keep your ID card away from magnets because they will erase the encoded information
  • Keep your ID card away from bulk erasers, radar transmitters and large electronic motors
  • Do not punch holes in the card
  • Clean your ID card with warm water and mild soap and dry with a soft cloth or towel so you don’t scratch the strip
  • Do not keep it in a Velcro closing wallet, as it may erase encoded information

If you follow these guidelines, you can keep your ID card working for a long time.

Individuals can add the mobile ID to their phone’s wallet by downloading the Transact eAccounts app and signing in with their NMSU credentials. It is honored the same way as the physical card across campus, and you just have to tap your phone to the readers for door access or transactions.

The mobile ID works on most phones that are NFC compatible, meaning that tap to pay is available. Motorola phones do not work with the mobile ID, and some people have had issues with the iPhone 13. If you are unsure if your phone is compatible, give us a call or stop by our office.

Yes, you can switch the type of ID you have one time.

You can submit a new photo following the guidelines listed under the online photo submissions page. If you have the mobile ID, your photo will update as soon as it has been approved by our office staff. If you have a physical ID, you will have to pay the $25 replacement fee to get a new Aggie ID card with the updated photo.

For a photo submission to be accepted, it must follow all of the guidelines listed under the online photo submissions tab. In addition to this, individuals must submit a photo of a valid ID that way they can be verified in the system. If you are unsure why your photo is being denied, check your NMSU email. After a photo is denied, an email is sent explaining the reasons for the denial.

To replace your ID you must come to the ID Card Services office located on the second floor of the NMSU Bookstore. The $25 replacement fee must be paid each time a new card is printed. Individuals must have a valid photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport when coming into the office to replace the NMSU ID card.

Once an Aggie ID card has been replaced the old card becomes invalid. It cannot be reactivated or used. If you find your lost card, destroy or turn it into the Parking & ID Card Services office. There is no refund if the old card is returned.

A student/employee may have only one valid card in their possession. Once an Aggie ID card has been replaced, the old card becomes invalid. It cannot be reactivated or used in any manner.

The report must be dated no more than five (5) working days from the date of the theft and turned into the ID Card Services office no later than 30 days from the date of theft.

If you need a copy of your ID before you have received a copy of the police report then a $25 replacement fee must be paid. When the report is finally received and turned into the Parking & ID Card Services office then the $25 replacement fee will be reimbursed through the Accounts Payable department within two weeks from the date the police report copy is received.
