Visitor Parking Information
For those visitors who want to enjoy the NMSU campus in the evenings (after 4:30 p.m.) and on weekends (Saturday & Sunday), no parking permit is required. You may park in any regular faculty/staff, commuter student, or visitor parking space.
Metered spaces are also free after 4:30 p.m. and on weekends. Parking spaces that are specially signed (e.g., “Service Vehicle”, “Postal Patron”, “Reserved for Dean”) are restricted 24 hours a day.
Visitor Parking Options
- Free Online E-Permits – The E-Permit is a free single-day permit that can be obtained online without any need to come into the Parking & ID Card Services office. Up to 5 single-day E-Permits can be obtained each calendar year. E-Permit must be displayed on vehicle dash. Anyone with an E-Permit displayed properly, can park in any regular faculty, staff or student space but must avoid red, yellow and green curbs as well as the disabled spaces or designated spaces. - Free In-Person permits – The free in-person permit is a single-day permit that can be obtained at the Parking & ID Card Services office. Up to five single-day permits can be obtained each calendar year. Must provide vehicle information (make, model, color, year, license plate number and license plate state). Anyone with a in-person visitor permit displayed properly, can park in any regular faculty, staff or student space but must avoid red, yellow and green curbs as well as the disabled spaces or designed spaces.
- Annual Visitor permits – Frequent visitors to campus may want their own annual parking permit. The “All Access” visitor parking permit allows use of any visitor, student, or faculty/staff parking lot for the entire permit year, while the “Outer-lot” visitor permit allows use of the “All Permit” parking lots (orange colored on the campus parking map) for the entire permit year.
Free Lots & Metered Parking
Free parking lots can be located on the campus parking map (identified in brown).
Metered parking is available at $1.50 per hour, at various locations throughout campus. Meters are operational from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Meters accept coin and credit/debit cards.
